shadowrun: one night

On 5 April 2006 ↑Erik Ralston has released a piece of amazing MP2-machinima: ↑“Shadowrun: One Night” [21:41min | .gvi | 199MB]. For an interesting discussion and more background information refer to the according thread at 3DR: ↑[MP2 Machinima] Shadowrun: One Night Released! Again the influence of cyberpunk upon gamemodding clearly has manifested itself.    … Continue reading

alan wake community infrastructure

Quite some things have changed concerning the structure of the online territory the Alan Wake community inhabits. AlanWAKE.net, home of the official Alan Wake forums, vanished in February, the URI was set to redirect to ↑http://www.alanwake.com/forum. The workload and effort to run a site of this size and complexity simply was too much for ADM, having an increasing study load at University sitting in his neck.  ADM: I started up AlanWake.net in the start of May 2005, it was the first Alan Wake fansite on the net and it drew it quite a good amount of traffic as well. … Continue reading

grid

Only the dim blueish glow of the cartesian grid gives something like structure to the unfathomamble black void. My eyes just lock on the grid. Yet there is nothing else. But the void is ready and set, it waits. It waits for my input via the interface, for my creativity to give birth to something. By defining points, edges, polygons I carve volumes out of the void, or into it. Now there is something the grid can lock on. Joining, subtracting, manipulating the volumes, giving them surfaces and qualities, flipping them inside out. A world emerges. A world other … Continue reading

darth payne

The external HDD still works like a charm, and I am again at organizing my material. Just found the above unfinished faceskin for ↵MP2 which I did on 10 September 2004. Of course it was intended for ↵LS5, which never saw the light of day. See ↵lightsaber outtakes. It’s not a great deal all in all, I know, but on a small scale the above artefact illustrates a typical process of combining elements and aspects—most artefacts stemming from modding-communities are collages of this kind. The image’s backdrop is the digitally reworked face of actor ↑Timothy Gibbs who gave his … Continue reading

threehundred gig aleph

After having succesfully implemented measures against the plague invading my cyberanthropologist’s hut, I was so elated that I started to realize my plan to enlarge the private parts of my hut by an appendix. Meaning that I wanted some mass-storage device featuring decent read and write speed and with enough space to really organize my material. Of course, I definitely need a godbox for my project—mainly working on a laptop soon won’t be feasible anymore—but I need another solution before I get my thoughts together concerning the right parts of the godbox [this still can take ages].So this morning I … Continue reading

teh_lamerer’s config

After the somewhat cruel experience concerning my performance in ↵Q3A during ↵the last LAN-party I attended, I now have started to take measures—the ↑Fighternight 8 is approaching—again ↵at Wolfenstein! As I do not get to grips with DigitalHawk’s config [tnx nevertheless], which is a modified version of Dante’s config, I finally built my very own one from scratch. ↑Maxx Blade’s Q3A Config Engine v1.4 and planetquake3.net’s ↑glossary of command line variables were of invaluable help. Just to match the whole situation I changed my nickname inside the config from “zeph” to “Teh_Lamerer”. Anyway, here’s ↵Teh_Lamerer’s q3config [.cfg | 10KB]. … Continue reading

cellular inconveniences

“I’m not a cell phone guy. I resisted getting one at all for years, and even now I rarely carry it. &uarr,[…]“—well, ↑John, I guess we’re in the same league now ;-) With the exception that I am carrying it all the time. ↵Keitai at its best. During the last months the need for having a cell phone somehow became virulent. So I went out and got myself a black ↑Motorola V3 Razr. Hereby I publicly confess that—like the guys ↑at the Mobile Gazette—I fell for the device’s looks. IMHO it’s a greatly designed clamshell. I especially dig its … Continue reading

payne & redemption

After ↑Max Payne Hero there now is another Max-Payne fan film in the making, called ↑Payne & Redemption. Fergle Gibson, writer and director of the upcoming movie said to ↑Deep Six:  Payne & Redemption is Part III of a series of collective shorts surrounding an original foreboding tale of love, betrayal, vengeance… and a whole lotta painkillers. The story focuses on the development of Max Payne’s character, exploring his psyche and what drives his incessant behaviour towards pursuing what’s most important to him—Justice. However, I guarantee, for those of you who couldn’t give a flying f*** about all that … Continue reading

three songs

The location of the ↑Fighternight VII is somewhat strange—well, it’s ok, but it definitely hasn’t the ambience ↵Wolfenstein had. The tables have a crude wooden top, so you have to use a mousepad. That’s not the problem, but the hall is too cramped, there’s simply too less space on the tables. Setting up the comp is a quick business for me, because again I am here with my laptop. But less people smile on me because of the laptop. At every ↵LAN-party I visit there a more people with laptops. Anyway, I quickly found out that it does not matter … Continue reading
