There is a countdown in ‘Summer Wars’, but I don’t think it is ‘Summer Wars’.

how very sneaky mr. xirdal! from the looks of the screencap i didn`t even think of anime.
the movie is vexille, japan isn´t visible because of some kind of energy field that covers all of japan. don´t have the actual answer though. gotta go watch it and see about that timer for myself – and i don´t want to get spoiled :D

  • 風露 Wednesday, 15th February 2012 at 13:37

That was close, but I would also say Vexille. Looks nice but I don’t know the answer as well^^

  • zephyrin_xirdal Wednesday, 15th February 2012 at 13:44

Congratulations, ryoku—’Vexille’ it is! And, well, yes, by the screencap selection I tried to cover-up the fact that it is a CGI-animation movie, because I feared else you buffs would immediately home in on the solution ;-)
Anyway, as you said, it still leaves us with the question of what is signified by the countdown.

  • 風露 Thursday, 16th February 2012 at 21:29

Alright. In order to disable the electromagnetic barrier surrounding Japan, a satellite connection coming from inside Japan has to be established for at least 3 minutes. That’s what the countdown is for^^. As the barrier even blocks the visible range of electromagnetic waves, this is the only possible way to take a glimpse on what is really going on there. No further spoilers from now on ;)
