This is in order to prevent anyone assuming that my vanity has gone straight through the ceiling. I just discovered that there is an entry called ↑Cyberanthropology at the German Wikipedia. To my surprise within this entry there is an inside-Wikipedia link ↑Alexander Knorr (Ethnologe) [(social/cultural anthropologist)]. And indeed, since 25 April 2012 there is an entry at Wikipedia on yours truly [I am awaiting its speedy deletion ;-]. Someone started the thing and meanwhile four other people worked on it. Till now it’s only four sentences long—and here my question: Should I, as time will permit, myself enlarge it? Frankly, somehow I do shy away from that.
Congrats, first. And second: It wasn’t me :-)
But you shouldn’t change anything, in my opinion, exept if something is totally wrong – then write to the discussion page with a real name login. I was in the same situation some years ago. The article didn’t change much since them and now I’m happy that everything is still as short and clumsy as by the first entry because now it’s still obvious to any reader that I didn’t put me on Wikipedia by myself. Which is a little bit like putting a golden statue of yourself naked and in life size in your own living room. And doing that would reveal more about you than any wikipedia article could.
And nevertheless, it may be fun watching the interest in your person grow over the next years.
I myself wasn’t sure what exactly to say about that..Do it or leave it, but KerLeone is right imho…Wikipedia should be a place where ppl write something about a specific issue or someone…it should not be a place of self-projetion…Sometimes you read an article about a scientist and you know he wrote it by himself. Hat a “Gschmäckle”
What about a Hauptseminar? ;) There’s still a thorn in my flesh regarding the unfinished Ethnologie-Artikel..damn..
That helped a lot, thank you, I’ll follow your advice and leave it as it is.
Thumbs up, Dude! (ich bin dafür: Hack mal alles rein was passen könnte, mal sehen was passiert;)
lol :D … in a way I am really tempted to undertake an experiment like that, I have to confess. By the way, it’s nice that the Doktor’s in the house :)
