anthropology, definition of
The project of anthropology is to understand objective empirical phenomena which are the consequences of the fusions of highly subjective experiences. For a preliminary sorting of these phenomena the congeries society and culture have been invented.
It took me ten years, but now here it is (above) … the definition of anthropology ;)
sounds way cool ;)
Thank you very much—I thought so, too :)
well.. today I could not remember this cool definition, when I had to explain to somebody what exactly it is I studied (after some beers). Still I tried not to use the term “culture” or “cultural” in the fist place but to describe it more as a tool (the term istself) than a just subject of anthropology. This ,as far as i got it, you managed here in a well let’s say way cool way ;P
Thank you for the flowers :) But honestly, I don’t think that my ‘definition’ of anthropology is digestible for normal people, meaning people outside of anthropology, sociology, and the like. I think when talking to real people it’s not only ok, but makes absolute sense, to use the concepts culture and society. It’s only the anthropologists’ warped pseudo-philosophical stance, tainted by postmodern, postcolonial, and other postfashions, which makes it necessary to talk around until you yourself no more know where you are … without the help of any beer whatsoever.
