Remember Gaff (Edward James Olmos) continuously leaving behind tiny origami artefacts, thereby more or less cryptically commenting situations in “↑Blade Runner“? The ↑famous unicorn in particular?   Just a little story on personal appropriation of mass-produced commodities. The stores around here carry a vast diversity of nearly identical products for everyday use in mass-consumption style, like e.g. shower gel and sun milk. Sometimes the contents are perfectly identical and only the containers, the inscriptions upon the containers, and the price-tags differ. And then there are identical containers used for a range of different products. In this case the text is not imprinted directly on the container, but on stickers. tron 2.0

  For some early cyberculture items the franchise- and adaptation-roundabout seems to spin forever. The 1982 silverscreen-movie ↑Tron was followed by Bally Midway’s ↑identically named arcade game in the same year. 1983 saw the computergame ↑Discs of Tron, and, more recently, in 2004, ↑Tron 2.0 and its ports/spinoffs ↑Tron 2.0 Killer App. A comic book series based on Tron 2.0 was cancelled due to licensing issues with Disney. lightsaber outtakes

With the recent hype around ↑Revenge of the Sith hitting the silverscreen I was reminded of the heap of work we had done for the Max Payne 1 total conversion (TC) Lightsaber 4 (LS4), but which never was included into it. Lightsaber 5 (LS5) never was completed, so everything done for it counts as an outtake, I guess. Quite some of this work never saw release, but only was circulated amongst the members of the modding-team.  Word has it that Salvador Dalí (1904-1989) once coined the phrase ‘liquid television’. MTV grabbed the vocable and named a TV-show broadcasting animated cartoons likewise. The show even was to be seen in India via StarTV, and featured goodies like ‘Æon Flux’ (The latter becoming a feature-movie starring Charlize Theron *sigh* soon—via ↑gamersgame).
